So basically, I don't know how to proceed as either way it's going to cost me at least several hundred dollars (on what was a 4 year old vehicle when the problem first happened) to get the thing fixed.Maryellen Mcgee darn Jeep could not have made this more complicated. I took it to a Jeep dealer and they were also not much help and wanted a few hundred dollars just to determine the problem. ![]() I took it to the caryard where I purchased it to get advice, but seeing as though I didn't buy it from a Jeep dealer they weren't helpful and were expecting several hundred dollars just to figure out what the problem was. This time I mentioned it to some friends and they suggested that if these things don't work then the correct number of miles driven is not recorded on the odometer. Several months later I noticed it again, and the speedometer and tachometer flicked down to zero, even when driving 70. I didn't pay much attention to it as I generally don't put heavy things in the trunk and after a while I forgot about it. Several weeks after I purchased it I noticed that if I placed heavy objects in the trunk, or went over a large bump, the speedometer would flick down to zero, and in some cases, stay at zero until I removed the items from the trunk. Does the government safety standards allow for 7. The only variable the dealer can adjust is the tire size. 5% also and that's fraud! all I want is for the Chrysler to fix the algorithm that computes the speed and odometer reading. I also purchased a long term warranty agreement from Chrysler and I will be short changed on that by 7. That's unacceptable ! however Chrysler says that's acceptable and in fact points out in a printed reply that the government allows that degree of accuracy now assuming my average speed is about 45 mph, 3 mph is a 7. We also found that it was also off by 3 mph at all other speeds too, so at 30 mph that turned out to be 10%. We found that at 60 miles/hour it took 315 seconds to go 5 miles. So we started measuring using roadside mileage markers and a timer. ![]() ![]() I had the dealer check it out and they couldn't find any problems. This was noticeably evident as we passed through safety and school zones that show the car speed on the roadside. Immediately we noticed that the speedometer was inaccurate and always reading fast. We have a new 2007 Jeep Liberty limited, purchased last March. The check engine light illuminated several times. The vehicle would loose power suddenly after driving forward, the windows would make a dragging noise, even though the dealer replace, the wheel speed sensor was replaced, the interior door handle on the passenger side was inoperative. The consumer was then informed the recall was old, and her VIN was not included. The consumer also stated there was a problem with the control arm on the vehicle and because of the widespread problem a recall as issued. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 101,000. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failures. ![]() The contact also stated that the rear passenger side door handle became defective, making it impossible to open the vehicle door from the interior of the vehicle and the abs, esp and traction control lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the gear shifter would shift out of park independently, causing the vehicle to roll away. The egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve melted, causing a burning smell to release into the vehicle. The contact stated that vehicle would surge forward when shifting into any gear and the vehicle would also loose power abnormally. The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4.
